Day 3 - Flex Day

Today is a flex day! You'll want to either create a very simple landing page to start an interest list for your new product, jump straight into your product creation or take a break! If you choose to take a break, please take some kind of device that can record notes, (most cell phones have a recording option) and possibly a notepad. You will undoubtedly have ideas come to mind and I'd love for you to capture them.

If you chose to create a simple landing page, please don't spend more than one hour on it. Open a new page in your website software and add in the embed code from MailChimp, AWeber or your email list provider. Keep it really simple. If possible, choose a template with no sidebar, to minimize distraction for your visitors.

An example of a simple landing page here: http://14dayproductchallenge.com/example-landing-page. The example you see here is not beautiful on purpose. I spent a grand total of 15 minute setting it up. See if you can do yours in less than an hour? You can tweak it later, but for now, create something simple.

Today would also be a great day to send a quick email to your list. Even if your list is only a few people.

● Tell them about your new product idea, ask a question (“what would you like me to include?”)
● Start a dialogue. And invite them to sign up to your new interest list.
● And also let them know you'll be sending an update next week.

This will help you stay on task – a bit of public accountability. People will remember, and ask you about it later.

[Fun Fact] Email subscribers will turn into buyers at a much higher rate than Facebook contacts or new website traffic. Do what you can to drive interest over the next two weeks to your interest list.

Lessons Learned: Taking a break

While chatting with Rachel about her online business, she revealed to me that she'd been thinking about creating an online program for several years. A day later while running some errands, the solution to her ideal clients problem came to her almost instantly. Sometimes all it takes is to stop thinking about it for a while.

To Do Today - Choose one of the following

[Marketing Tip] Snap a picture or take a screenshot of what you're working on & “leak it” to your social media channels. Let them know how excited you are about creating something new.

  • Landing page
  • Product Creation
  • Take a break
